The SAP S/4HANA Technical Architect will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for the design, architecture, and migration strategy supporting the transition from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA under the RISE with SAP model. This role requires strong technical leadership, collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, and deep expertise in SAP platforms to ensure a successful, secure, and compliant migration. Key Responsibilities: Lead the technical design, architecture, and implementation strategy for SAP S/4HANA brownfield migration projects. Oversee the migration of SAP ECC and related components to SAP S/4HANA using RISE with SAP, leveraging tools such as SUM DMO and Conversion Cockpit. Collaborate with functional, BW/Reporting, BASIS, infrastructure, security, and development teams to define scalable, secure, and high-performing SAP system architectures. Direct remediation of custom enhancements, Fiori applications, APIs, and system interfaces (including PI/PO, CPI, and IDocs) to ensure full compatibility with S/4HANA. Define and guide migration strategy, system sizing, and performance optimization activities in alignment with SAP and enterprise best practices. Ensure all solution designs adhere to security, regulatory, and compliance standards, as well as SAP-recommended methodologies. Participate in project planning, scheduling, risk assessment, and timeline estimation to ensure timely and effective delivery. Review, evaluate, and approve implementation partner deliverables, ensuring quality, alignment with architecture standards, and adherence to project requirements. Collaborate with SAP and the implementation partner in design and review sessions related to RISE with SAP deployment. Contribute to Architecture Review Board (ARB) governance activities, including development and evaluation of Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and other documentation. Required Skills
Minimum 10+ years of experience in SAP technologies, including at least 4+ years in S/4HANA implementation projects. Proven experience as an SAP Technical Architect on at least one full-cycle S/4HANA implementation or migration project. Deep understanding of SAP NetWeaver, ABAP programming, SAP HANA database architecture, and SAP Fiori/UI5 technologies. Hands-on experience with S/4HANA migration methodologies and tools (SUM DMO, Conversion Cockpit, etc.). Proficiency in SAP integration technologies such as PI/PO, CPI, RFC, BAPIs, REST, and SOAP. Strong knowledge of SAP landscape architecture, system sizing, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) solutions. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively in complex government environments. Preferred Skills
Experience with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform). Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps methodologies within enterprise or government settings. Hands-on experience with RISE with SAP deployment models. Experience using smartShift for SAP code remediation during S/4HANA migrations. Knowledge of SAP BW, analytics, and reporting tools. Experience with SAP ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) and data archiving. Background in federal or state government IT environments, with an understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks. SAP S/4HANA Technical Architecture Certification preferred. Experience with third-party integrations and bolt-ons, including BSI, Vertex, Adobe Document Services, and Hyland OnBase. Familiarity with Tricentis Test Automation tools and processes. Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Interview Process
