Overview

INDIANA UNIVERSITY PUBLIC SAFETY (UA-PSIA-IUINA) ASSESSES IU's commitment to the safety of the IU community. IU Public Safety oversees the IU Police Department, University Environmental Health and Safety, and Emergency Management and Continuity with a team of approximately 300 staff on a 24/7/365 basis across all campuses. The Administrative Assistant serves as the first point of contact in the Radiation Safety Office and communicates customer needs to appropriate members of the Radiation Safety staff.

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Compensation: $48,152 annually

Responsibilities

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to the Radiation Safety office.
  • Invoices and processes payments from clinical partners.
  • Orders radioactive material.
  • Processes personnel monitoring devices for distribution, collection, and return to vendor.
  • Verifies employee and background checks for the High-Level Source Security Program.
  • Performs daily updates to radioactive materials inventories.

General Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to a department or group of professionals, exercising confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
  • Utilizes business software applications to prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas, minutes, etc.; compiles data for expense and statistical reports.
  • Receives, screens, and directs incoming calls, visitors, mail, and email promptly, courteously, and accurately.
  • Schedules and confirms appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements; tracks expenses.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of administrative standards, policies and practices for the organization.
  • May perform other duties related to maintaining an internal website and/or working with social media.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

Work Experience

  • 2 years of relevant experience

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
