Overview
The Sr. Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for strategic sourcing strategies related to assigned PRG products. This position develops, and executes the selection, evaluation, and negotiation for PRG items, ensuring that the suppliers selected fit Panda’s culture and philosophy, have the necessary capacity, and provide the items at the best price and the specified quality.
Responsibilities
Owns and leads the development and execution using the 10-step strategic sourcing process for PRG products in support of its business strategy and plan. Identifies suppliers and arranges optimal contracts in terms of pricing, quality, timing, and supply availability over the term of the contract. Advises SCM Leadership on product availability and pricing; pre-qualifies new suppliers and facilities for price, safety, capacity, and quality. Ensures costs are within budget.
Evaluate potential suppliers in coordination with FSQA and other stakeholders to ensure safety for consumption. Negotiate with new suppliers on cost and collaborate with the Supply Management team to bring products into distribution.
Lead the supplier selection and negotiation processes; independently develop new product and supplier options to support overall business strategy and growth.
Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships, optimize sourcing strategies, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Lead Quarterly Business Reviews; communicate with suppliers regarding partnership aspects, PRG philosophy, and growth plans; ensure supplier alignment with Panda to support growth. Manage supplier performance and assess supplier fitness to determine procurement strategy.
Collaborate with PMO and support cross-functional projects with other departments and operations related to product specifications, quality inquiries, product recalls, sourcing new ingredients, testing new products, and phasing in products within distribution.
Support company events in terms of sponsorship and procurement. Provide products for events as requested and solicit suppliers as potential sponsors of charity events when appropriate.
Support global sourcing of products for both domestic and international operations as needed.
Understand assigned categories as a commodity expert. Monitor commodity markets for prices and supply and communicate findings to Sourcing Leadership. Recommend changes in recipes based on commodity markets to maintain quality and cost within budget. Advise on optimal timing to introduce and promote new or current products.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent; CPSM certification preferred.
Minimum five years of experience in Supply Chain Management, preferably in a multi-unit food service and/or manufacturing organization.
Successful completion of required training (e.g., store training, harassment prevention, inclusive practices, etc.).
Valid Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of employment.
