We’re looking for a versatile and experienced
Sr.
Applications Engineer
to operate as a core technical liaison to our customers, responsible for managing the full lifecycle of custom projects from initial concept through to successful production. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in materials and process engineering with strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers, sales, and manufacturing teams on complex challenges and provide effective solutions. Key Responsibilities
Customer engagement and requirements definition:
Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers to gather and analyze requirements for custom HMI, membrane switches, overlays, and other electronic interface solutions. Technical sales support:
Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to prepare technical proposals, present product capabilities, and conduct feasibility studies for new opportunities. Design and development support:
Work closely with customers to translate their needs into technical specifications and viable, manufacturable products, using 2D and 3D CAD tools. Project management:
Oversee the project scope, timeline, and budget throughout the design and manufacturing process, ensuring accurate product cost estimation and on-time delivery. Technical troubleshooting:
Provide hands-on technical support during pre- and post-sales, resolving issues related to product integration, performance, and functionality. Technical costing and quoting:
Work closely with our supply chain and in-house manufacturing engineers to build up NRE and production costs estimates with a focus on competitive price targets while achieving financial objectives. Industry expertise:
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitor products, and new technologies in HMI, electronics, and related manufacturing processes. Qualifications
Education:
A Bachelor\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is required. Experience:
10+ years in an applications, product development, or project engineer role, preferably within the custom manufacturing, electronics, or HMI industry. Technical skills:
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including plastics, electronics, and assembly. Experience with ERP or CRM systems is beneficial.
Soft skills:
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Exceptional problem-solving abilities and critical thinking to resolve complex technical issues. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Travel:
Willingness to travel to customer sites and manufacturing facilities as needed. Additional Information
This position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. §1324b(a)(3) due to ITAR and/or CUI compliance. Candidates being considered for hire must successfully pass a pre-employment background check. Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range: $97k-$110k (Pay to be determined by the experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data) Benefits Offered: Comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage; company-paid basic life/AD&D insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance; voluntary supplemental insurances, flexible spending accounts and employee assistance program (EAP).
