Position Summary The Associate Director works closely with the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of Advancement to manage a portfolio of Principal Partner prospects, donors in the portfolio of the Executive Vice Chancellor, and university trustees, including those with the capacity to make gifts of $5M+. The position will have a particular focus on parents as Principal Partner prospects, leading coordination with the Parent and Student Engagement Team and gift officers. In addition, the position will play a key role in activities related to the Board of Trustees, assisting with annual fund giving strategies, engagement strategies and implementation, and the building of tracking and reporting structures.

The position will coordinate with the Asst. VC and ED to proactively facilitate the implementation of strategy that will engage prospects identified as Principal Partners through a variety of cultivation and stewardship efforts to yield significant levels of support. It requires an understanding of high-level relationship-building and how Principal Gifts can effectively offer resources and consultation to build strategies in support of complex gifts solicitations (the latter can be learned in the role). The Associate Director will also support necessary and extensive collaboration with UA colleagues, faculty, students, and university staff, carefully navigating the UA structure so as to appropriately include partners in both the fundraising and strategy verticals. The position requires great attention to detail and skill in guiding and managing projects, in addition to sensitivity, diplomacy, and creativity.

The Associate Director will help to manage both the execution of carefully coordinated strategy, as well as the urgent requests and unexpected opportunities for donor engagement that may arise; the ability to be flexible and continuously prioritize and reprioritize will be essential. The Associate Director must also be willing to invest time in developing an understanding of the university’s strengths and in-depth knowledge of institutional priorities, so as to actively contribute to engagement strategies and goals. Strong writing skills will be required to be successful in this position.
