Your Job The mission of the Trade Compliance team is to ensure compliance in every transaction to deliver on time value to the runner through the efforts of integrity, collaboration and excellence. As the U.S. Trade Operations Specialist, you will be an integral team member in facilitating US import and export trade for Brooks while protecting the brand through ensuring compliance with US trade laws and regulations. You will be responsible for day-to-day operations and activities related to U.S. import and export compliance with a primary focus on auditing US import entries to verify supplier and broker accuracy and compliance, identifying and addressing data discrepancies and managing the entry recordkeeping. You will be responsible for reporting on key performance indicators and trade cost savings to identify improvement opportunities and celebrate successes. The right candidate is detail-oriented and organized, with curiosity and passion for international trade, continuous learning, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

Manage Brooks Sports’ US import entries which involve auditing entries for supplier and broker customs compliance, reporting discrepancies, addressing non-compliance with foreign suppliers, identifying and reporting first sale savings, and processing customs entry corrections as needed with the US Customs broker

Manage, audit, and maintain recordkeeping of US import and export shipments in accordance with customs regulations and Brooks’s compliance standards

Manage pre-import audit process including tracking of all inbound shipments, auditing customs data and documentation, investigating and troubleshooting any identified shipment issues prior to port arrival, sharing validated data with Customs broker and processing the required data for foreign trade zone (FTZ) admission

Support FTZ operations by processing the 7512 in-bond customs documentation for Canada export shipments and issuing permits to transfer for inbound bonded shipments

Prepare and submit month-end reporting to Finance regarding first sale duty savings data and import entry duty accruals

Prepare import and/or export shipping documentation in response to ad hoc requests from other departments

Process and submit the importer security filings (ISF) to U.S. Customs for all ocean shipments, conducting weekly analysis of filings to ensure compliance with deadlines and filing requirements

Monitor and troubleshoot customs clearance delays, manage compliance, report performance metrics and approve duty invoices of US import courier shipments

Support Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) compliance program by collecting and analyzing ocean container security inspection checklists and escalating any identified risks

Collaborate with Transportation team and Customs Broker for successful customs clearance of Brooks’ seasonal sales sample programs

Support maintenance of US customs compliance SOPs and procedures through SOP governance framework

Analyze customs data and report KPIs and cost savings related to ISF, First Sale, US entry audits, vendor compliance and broker compliance as part of team monthly reporting

Collaborate with and assist Trade Compliance team to develop and execute process improvements and support strategic initiatives

Attend local seminars and trade conferences, participate in networking opportunities and review trade publications and Customs regulation updates to stay current with US regulations, making recommendations to Brooks processes to ensure compliance

Serve as a backup to the Trade Compliance team as needed and execute other responsibilities as required

Qualifications

Bachelor or Associate degree in international trade, business administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience in import and/or export

1+ years of work experience in logistics and/or trade compliance

Knowledge of U.S. import, export, and/or foreign trade zone regulations

Customs Broker’s License or Certified Customs Specialist is a plus

Commitment to detail, accuracy, and follow-through

Ability to work independently and make effective decisions

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects

Ability to function in a team environment and contribute positively

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Adaptability to process changes and willingness to improve processes

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ERP or trade compliance tools

Ability to anticipate how a decision can affect stakeholders and compliance

Demonstration of innovation and initiative – willingness to dive into details and help where needed

Must be able to travel domestically as required

Compensation: The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $59,904 - 89,919 per year. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
