Hawaii News Now, the state's dominant multimedia news organization that covers KGMB (CBS), KHNL (NBC), and K5, is seeking a full-time Digital Content News Producer. This person must thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment and be comfortable working under tight deadlines; a self-starter with strong organizational and writing skills and a “digital first” mindset, who can identify, produce, and publish engaging, news-driven stories and video on a variety of digital platforms, including Hawaii News Now’s website, app, and social media accounts. Responsibilities
Drive all things digital, working closely with the newsroom team, specifically producers, reporters, and anchors. Exercise strong news judgment to generate written news content using AP Style, and photo and video content for publication on all digital platforms. Edit photos, videos, and graphics as needed. Manage Hawaii News Now’s mobile apps and social media accounts. Set up live streams and send push alert notifications. Support the newsroom as needed. Execute and maintain the station’s overall goal to provide trustworthy, competitive, 24/7 local digital content coverage for our news consumers. Qualifications/Requirements
The successful applicant will be part of a digital-specific team and must have at least one year of experience working with digital and social media for a news organization Candidates must be extremely well-versed in news writing, using a content management system, and publishing to social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Experience with video live streams and other back-end digital production systems is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate strong skill sets in communication, team collaboration, organization, and writing, and be able to juggle tasks without much supervision. College degree required; journalism/English degrees are preferred. Must have a valid driver's license.
