This is a full-time, tenure-track position within the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and will start on August 17, 2026.**Responsibilities:***F**aculty members are expected to:** Demonstrate the ability to teach diverse range of undergraduate Industrial Engineering courses, and related courses in statistics, effectively to a post-traditional student population and contribute to meaningful assessment of student learning. (may want to list specific courses if known)* Develop curriculum in diverse areas within Industrial Engineering.* Teach in Industrial Engineering BS program.* Teach in-person and distance education courses as needed by the department, college, or university.* Contribute meaningfully to the assessment of student learning at program and institutional levels.* Engage in scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/or research. If there are particular areas of scholarly work desired, it should be listed here.* Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study.* Contribute to student growth and development through advising and assistance.* Engage in service to the university and community.* Demonstrate a commitment to serving a diverse student body by delivering a student-centered education and using approaches that support equitable outcomes for all students.* Provide excellent learning environments through in-person, online, and/or hybrid course modalities.**Minimum Qualifications*** A master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field, such as Operations Research, Management Science, or Systems Engineering.* Demonstrated potential for success in teaching and professional service activities.* A plan for scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/or research in the specified discipline(s), or related disciplines.* Effective Communication skills (written & verbal) to communicate with a variety of persons and groups.* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an institution with a culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse workforce and student population.* Demonstrated ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.**Preferred Qualification*** A completed terminal degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field, such as Operations Research, Management Science, or Systems Engineering.* 3+ years documented relevant work experience in industry or as an industry consultant.* Experience pursuing or renewing ABET accreditation for an undergraduate engineering program.* Demonstrated effectiveness teaching at a post-secondary level.* Experience developing course curricula at a post-secondary institution.* Demonstrated contributions to assessment of student learning at a post-secondary institution.* Professional development and/or expertise in culturally responsive pedagogy, anti-racist pedagogy, and/or universal design.* Experience as an academic advisor for students at post-secondary institution.**Other Requirements****Notice**: In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a motor vehicle records check.**About***Metro State University empowers learners to transform their lives and communities through relevant, student-centered education in an inclusive, anti-racist, and supportive learning environment.*Metro State University provides an excellent, inclusive, and engaging education to eliminate opportunity gaps and empower our students to lead our communities to a prosperous and equitable future. Learn more about Minnesota State Colleges and Universities at their .The **Department of Mathematics and Statistics** currently offers programs in Mathematics, Industrial & Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Teaching, and Data Science, and is launching a program in Industrial Engineering starting in Fall Semester 2026. Students in our programs gain the analytic skills needed to study and solve a wide range of problems. They also develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills that are useful in a wide range of careers in science, technology, engineering, business, actuarial science, and education. In a typical academic year, the faculty member will teach five courses, split between two semesters. In addition, the faculty member will engage in scholarship, advising, and service.The Department is housed in the **College of Sciences**, which also contains programs in computer science/cybersecurity as well as the natural sciences.
