Responsibilities
Provide industry leadership as a customer facing Principal Solutions Architect to position and communicate cutting-edge solutions addressing complex business challenges and driving value for Tier 1 Service Provider clients.
Lead and influence cross-functional teams within the end customer and internally (Sales, Product Management, R&D, Professional Services) to create comprehensive business cases and technology solutions that drive sales outcomes. Articulate the value of complex technology solutions that lead to network adoption.
Strategic Solution Development: create and analyze customer business cases, identify market opportunities, and design technology solutions that integrate Ciena products. Understand Service Provider solution alternatives and provide compelling counterpoints to drive outcomes.
Industry Expertise: provide expert consultation on network solutions from Layer 0 to Layer 3, ensuring alignment with industry practices and emerging trends.
Technical Leadership: lead architectural engagements, guide internal teams and customers through solution design options, and research, create, and present content to sell ideas externally and internally.
Customer Engagement: serve as a trusted advisor, present solutions addressing business challenges, and create compelling proposals emphasizing technical and financial value. Co-create market-differentiated solutions and present at Industry Conferences. New Business Development is a major focus.
Innovation and Collaboration: contribute to developing new capabilities and technologies, influence product roadmaps, and drive innovation within Ciena's portfolio.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with extensive experience in network architecture, systems engineering, or telecommunications consulting.
Expertise in Layer 0 – Layer 3 technologies.
Deep understanding of the products and technologies within Ciena’s Optical and Packet portfolio.
Demonstrated industry experience.
Experience working with Service Providers and ideally Cloud customers.
Ability to build strong relationships and construct both near-term and long-term strategies.
Ability to work at both strategic and tactical implementation levels.
Expert-level communication and presentation skills.
Willingness to travel up to 50%.
Assets
Master’s degree or MBA.
Industry certifications.
Presence on LinkedIn / social media platforms.
Known within the industry with industry speaking engagement examples.
The annual total target compensation pay range for this position is $196,700 - $314,300. This includes both base and incentive compensation.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range information provided pertains specifically to the primary location listed if multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans; participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching; Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP); Employee Assistance Program (EAP); company-paid holidays; paid sick leave; and vacation time.
