Were looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our Software Quality team and help lead our test automation strategy across the Mill ecosystem spanning embedded firmware, mobile apps (iOS/Android), web, and cloud platforms. This role will play a key part in shaping our end-to-end quality strategy and building the frameworks that ensure reliability and scalability in our rapidly evolving products. Key Responsibilities Collaborate closely with the engineering team to design and develop Mills automated test infrastructure. Design, implement, and scale automation frameworks covering embedded firmware, mobile applications, web, and cloud services. Interface with cross-functional leaders (Product, QA, Engineering, TPMs) to translate product requirements and feature requests into well-defined, structured test plans. Drive automation initiatives mentor QA engineers, explore emerging tools, and champion best practices in test engineering. Establish and maintain reliable processes and tooling for test script development, integration, and execution. Partner with Developers, QA Engineers, Firmware Engineers, Software Engineers, Product Managers, and TPMs to ensure robust end-to-end product quality across all layers of the stack.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Deep understanding of software design principles, automation frameworks, and quality engineering across mobile, cloud, and firmware systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and architecture diagrams, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience using Python and Java in production-grade automation. Proven record of shipping and scaling consumer-facing products with high reliability and performance. Experience working in fast-paced, agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) with startup-level velocity. Camera systems or computer vision testing experience is a strong plus. Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and automated integration/system testing (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions). Proficiency with GitHub (version control) and project tracking tools such as JIRA.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $190k to $210k, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs.
