We're seeking a dynamic and mission-driven leader to build and scale our marketing and sales function. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage environments, is passionate about democracy and electoral politics, and is excited to shape the growth strategy of a fast-moving political-tech startup. Responsibilities
Lead the marketing and sales function, setting strategy and executing across channels Develop and manage growth marketing campaigns across email, social, search, and events Build and maintain relationships with prospective customers, partners, and industry stakeholders Drive the full sales cycle: prospecting, cold outreach, demos, follow-ups, and closing deals Mentor junior team members and promote a collaborative, team-oriented culture Build brand presence through social media, webinars, conferences, community engagement, and newsletters Analyze performance data and present insights using Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Slides Represent the company in the political ecosystem, cultivating relationships with Democratic and progressive organizations Required Qualifications
Experience leading the marketing and/or sales function in an early-stage startup Fluency with growth marketing and analytics tools, including HubSpot, Google Analytics, Vercel, Meta Ads Manager, Google Search Ads, and Buffer Exceptional written communication skills and customer relationship management experience Comfortable operating in a high-risk, high-reward startup environment with ambiguity and rapid change Strong team orientation; enjoys mentoring, supporting colleagues, and spotlighting others' achievements Deep passion for electoral politics and strengthening democratic processes, especially for Democratic and progressive campaigns Demonstrated success in building brands through social media, content, events, and thought-leadership engagement Proven experience with cold calling, cold emailing, pipeline management, and closing deals Willing and comfortable working primarily on a commission-based compensation structure Strong analytical skills and comfort organizing, interpreting, and presenting data visually and numerically Additional Beneficial Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
Experience working or volunteering on a political campaign, or personal experience running for office Familiarity with political organizations' operational needs (e.g., compliance, fundraising, field) Ability to build simple prototypes or scripts using AI coding tools such as v0.dev or Cursor Comfortable writing SQL queries for reporting and analysis Experience hosting podcasts or creating video content for brand storytelling Experience developing and managing a reseller or channel-partner program Compensation
