We partner with banks, fintechs, and governments to equip small businesses in the U.S. and Canada with the carded and non-carded solutions that help them thrive. The Director of U.S. Small Business Growth will be responsible for designing and executing key strategic priorities for our business. This high-visibility role will own our acceptance strategy and merchant acquirer/processor optimization; scale new payment tools within small business; and drive secular shift from check and cash to card. We are looking for a motivated, nimble leader who will deliver tangible business impact and help to craft the horizon of our fast-growing business. Own the end-to-end U.S. small business acceptance strategy, including acceptance partnerships, narratives, and solutions, with a focus on driving secular shift and increasing market share. Design and execute a proactive processors and acquirers strategy addressing the segment’s unique needs and delivering Gross Dollar Value (GDV) / revenue for Mastercard. Partner with sales and account teams to provide ongoing product support to processors and acquirers, address customer inquiries, and identify and scale strategic optimization initiatives. Collaborate with the SME team and cross-functional partners across the organization (Commercial Product, Legal, Loyalty, Data and Services). Oversee the overall product line strategy for SME, focusing on card and beyond-card product differentiation across small business, mid-market, and large-market tiers. Work with cross-functional partners to ensure the small business segment is prioritized in new product development roadmaps and own the commercialization of those initiatives in the region. Identify and execute growth and innovation opportunities for small business within Commercial and New Payment Flows (CNPF), Mastercard overall, or externally; evaluate strategic and financial impact of those opportunities. Represent initiatives across Mastercard, including with senior executives, and bring them to market through strong influencing, analytical, and strategic skills. All about you
You have a sense of urgency and can navigate a matrixed organization to drive results. You are data-driven, curious, strategic, and able to apply insights to the business. You have a proven track record designing and delivering end-to-end product strategies. You have extensive experience in cards, payments innovation, or acceptance; small business, fintech, or processor/acquirer experience is a plus. You can build trust through strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and have a track record of delivering business impact through cross-functional collaboration. You are an excellent communicator with superb presentation skills. You are a team player who embodies the Mastercard Way. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree is a plus.
