- Collect blood specimens via venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick.
- Instruct patients on self-collection for non-blood specimens.
- Accurately enter orders and patient data in lab systems.
- Maintain sample integrity and follow safety protocols.
- Perform clerical tasks, including specimen labeling and transport.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and providers.
- Train new employees or students as assigned.
- May perform arterial punctures with proper training.
- Monitor inventory and maintain cost-effective supply use.
- Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program
- Minimum 6 months experience performing phlebotomy
- Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience
- Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
