Cranbrook Educational Community, founded by Detroit philanthropists George and Ellen Booth in 1904, is a leader in education, science, and art. Director of Enrollment Management
is responsible for the Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid, overseeing the recruitment, evaluation, and enrollment of students for all levels of the Schools. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The enrollment and/or re-enrollment of approximately 1,650 students annually, ensuring tuition income supports budgetary goals. Meeting strategic institutional goals and priorities, broadening the scope of the student body, and maintaining inclusion and diversity as core to enrollment efforts. Initiating admissions-related marketing strategies aligned with the Schools’ Mission, Vision, and Values. Using data-driven strategies to evaluate local, regional, national, and international markets for prospective students. Managing a team of six Deans and Associate Deans of Admissions, plus five administrative support staff. Supervising the annual work of the six Admission Committees responsible for vetting new students. Traveling domestically and internationally to represent Cranbrook at admissions-related events as needed. Developing and maintaining an Admissions parent network and nurturing these relationships. Managing the Admissions Office budget. Coordinating activities with Alumni and Advancement Offices. Maintaining attendance, punctuality, and performance standards per Cranbrook’s employee handbook. Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct and supervise the Admission/Financial Aid staff, including six Admission professionals and five support staff. Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. Ten (10) or more years of Enrollment Management experience, or combined experience in Marketing, Communications, Enrollment Management, Financial Aid Administration, and/or Alumni/Advancement. Commitment to fostering an inclusive community with demonstrated high emotional intelligence in working with families, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work collaboratively with other school community members and navigate complex organizational systems and structures. Strong understanding of budget drivers that impact school finances. Adept and proficient with up-to-date technologies supporting data-driven student record management, analytical reporting, office operations, and social media strategy. Skilled manager who develops talent and builds high-functioning teams and a welcoming department culture. Strategic thinker and creative problem-solver with the ability to see the big picture. Superior written and spoken communication skills, with ability to present to large audiences and handle delicate individual situations. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and managerial abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing demands. Commitment to confidentiality and good judgment on sensitive matters. Willingness to work evenings and weekends and to travel as needed. Experience as a teacher, coach, advisor, or mentor at multiple grade levels is a plus. Requires a valid Michigan driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
