Brown and Caldwell (BC) is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join our team. We are an employee-owned, multi-disciplinary, professional consulting firm serving municipal, industrial, and federal clients throughout the United States, Canada, and Guam. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading local and remote teams of civil engineers and designers on a variety of water resource infrastructure projects including small to large water, wastewater, linear conveyance/pipeline, and stormwater projects. Projects may involve new facility design, as well as expansions, retrofits, and upgrades to existing facilities. This position is specifically focused on design of site development aspects of infrastructure projects such as site layout, drainage and grading, utility and piping design, and erosion control. Additional duties will include civil discipline portions of business development and scope preparation. Culture

The ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized, proactive, and capable of working in a collaborative team environment. You will be working with project management and technical staff to execute the following types of work: Engineering design work for water, wastewater, recycled water, and stormwater projects including pipelines, pump stations, and treatment plants. Technical writing including alternative analyses, preliminary engineering reports, technical memorandums, basis of design reports. Prepare design drawings, supporting calculations, and technical specifications. Permitting support. Engage as a civil design leader for internal teams with younger engineers and designers while coordinating with other discipline leads and subconsultants. Mentor and review work of others for quality and help to resolve design and development problems. Conduct field work such as site investigations, condition assessments, and construction observation. Provide services during construction including submittal reviews, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, and change orders. Communicate with clients and attend client meetings. Communicate effectively and coordinate with internal project teams and subconsultants. Review scope of work documents from subconsultants including surveyors, geotechnical consultants, architects, as well as process, mechanical, and electrical engineers. Contribute to development and updates of company standards such as details and specifications. Supervise employees, including managing performance, mentoring, and training. Additional duties may include marketing and business development, project management assistance, professional development, proposal preparation, and other business-related functions. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field. Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in civil design, preferably municipal and/or industrial fields including water and wastewater site work, pipelines, and construction administration. Professional Engineering license. Experience working with local, regional, and federal permitting agencies. Proficiency in standard computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite and Bluebeam. Proficient technical writing and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field. Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D. Experience coordinating with staff performing Civil 3D. Experience with MEP/Revit. Experience with ArcGIS. Experience using hydrology and hydraulic calculations/modeling software (e.g. PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Hydraflow Storm Sewers, etc.). Field and construction experience. Experience reviewing the work of others for quality control. Salary Range

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future. Location A: $106,000 - 145,000; Location B: $117,000 - 160,000; Location C: $128,000 - 174,000. Benefits and Other Compensation
