Overview
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. In this role, you will design, develop and test the embedded software that controls individual satellites. Role and focus
You will work in a team responsible for embedded software for the Flight Software team of Kuiper satellites. You will participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations. The team tackles critical satellite functions including power management, hardware interfaces, command & telemetry, and autonomous control with a focus on reliability, safety, and security. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Responsibilities Develop embedded software in assembly, C, C++, or other languages in a real-time operating system environment Develop embedded kernel / device driver Write software to interact with devices/electronics using I2C, SPI, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet, etc. communications Write device drivers and system applications for flight code and flight management Work closely with hardware teams to support board bring-up and integration testing Work closely with engineers to architect and deliver the best technical designs and approaches Demonstrate 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience Demonstrate 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience Demonstrate 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team Demonstrate 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
