Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
Quality Process Engineer
to join our machine shop operations. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring that manufacturing processes consistently produce high-quality products by developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems, procedures, and process improvements. This position requires a deep understanding of machining processes, quality standards, and continuous improvement methodologies. Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain process documentation (Control Plans, PFMEA, Work Instructions, etc.) to support machining operations. Analyze and improve machining processes to enhance product quality and reduce defects and rework. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities for internal and external quality issues. Work closely with CNC operators, machinists, and production supervisors to identify process bottlenecks and quality issues. Utilize quality tools such as SPC, 8D, DMAIC, and Six Sigma to support continuous improvement initiatives. Manage the calibration and maintenance of measuring instruments and inspection equipment. Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS 9100, or applicable quality standards. Support new product introduction (NPI) by defining quality requirements and process validation. Train operators and team members on quality standards and inspection techniques. Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues with incoming materials or components. Maintain quality metrics and present data-driven recommendations to management. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. 3+ years of experience in a quality or process engineering role within a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of machining processes, including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding. Proficiency with inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMMs, etc.) and GD&T. Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.). Working knowledge of statistical analysis tools and process control techniques. Problem-solving mindset with experience in root cause analysis and corrective actions. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Certification such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is a plus. Skills
Hands-on experience with CNC machining or programming. Familiarity with ERP systems and quality software (e.g., Minitab, SPC software). Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles.
