Overview We are seeking a seasoned and technically-minded Principal Product Manager (T6) to define the strategy, roadmap, and execution for our core Transactional Marketing Platform. This platform is the engine for high-volume, low-latency customer communications including critical emails (password resets, order confirmations, security alerts) and time-sensitive mobile, SMS, RCS, and WhatsApp messages. This role balances Developer Experience (DX) with empowering marketers through self-service tools to manage dynamic content, ensure legal compliance, and monitor trigger-based message performance. If you thrive on solving complex system architecture challenges and building high-impact tools at the intersection of engineering and marketing, this is the role for you. Responsibilities Developer Experience & Platform Strategy

Own the DX: Define and execute the roadmap for developer-facing platform tools, including APIs, SDKs, webhooks, and documentation, ensuring seamless and compliant integration for all engineering teams sending transactional messages. Platform Scalability & Reliability: Drive strategy for the core messaging infrastructure, focusing on deliverability, low-latency message transmission (sub-second goals), high availability (99.99%), and delivery reliability with measurable SLAs for throughput, latency, and error budgets. Implement retry policies, redundant routing, and automated failure handling to ensure consistent delivery across all channels. Protocol Mastery: Oversee integration and optimization for messaging protocols and transport layers, including SMTP, SMPP, HTTP APIs, RCS Business Messaging, and WhatsApp Business API. Ensure compliance with provider-specific rate limits, delivery receipts, encryption, and authentication requirements. Technical Prioritization: Articulate technical debt, architectural investments, and security/compliance requirements as business outcomes to influence executive-level platform prioritization. Marketer Tooling & Self-Service

Template & Content Management: Develop and launch self-service tools that enable marketers to manage, version, localize, and A/B test transactional email and message templates without requiring engineering deployments. Compliance & Audit: Build governance capabilities including mandatory legal footer injection, automatic unsubscribe handling, real-time message audit logs, and ownership tracking for all trigger-based communications. Reporting & Insights: Partner with Data Science and Analytics teams to provide granular, real-time reporting on delivery rates, open rates, message latency, and reliability metrics specific to the high-priority transactional message stream. Execution & Leadership

Lead a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and data scientists, translating complex platform capabilities into clear user stories and testable product increments. Serve as the internal subject matter expert on email sending protocols (SMTP, DMARC, DKIM), SMS protocols (SMPP, HTTP APIs), and emerging channels including RCS and WhatsApp Business Messaging. Establish delivery reliability KPIs and continuously improve delivery rate, latency p95, and system uptime through data-driven experimentation and monitoring. Mentor junior PMs and contribute actively to Intuit’s product management culture. Qualifications 10+ years of progressive experience in Product Management, with 4+ years managing platform, infrastructure, or developer tools. Proven experience defining strategy for highly scalable, real-time systems (e.g., payments, logging, messaging, APIs). Deep technical fluency and ability to communicate complex architectural trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated knowledge of the email, SMS, and messaging ecosystem, including deliverability, IP reputation, sender policies, rate limits, and compliance. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a software engineer or similar technical background building production systems. Prior experience with Customer Data Platforms (CDPs), Marketing Automation Systems (MAS), or internal message bus systems, and/or cloud computing (AWS, GCP, Azure). Experience launching a product focused on improving internal developer experience (DX). Experience managing integrations with SMS aggregators, RCS, or WhatsApp Business APIs.
