About the Role
We are searching for a highly technical and collaborative Equipment Manager who excels in fast-paced production environments. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a deep passion for, and up-to-date knowledge of, the latest Audio/Visual (AV) and production technology. This pivotal role provides essential support across the entire team’s production portfolio, including live events, broadcast engineering, documentary-style storytelling, and executive communications.
Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Oversee all team equipment using specialized inventory software and ensure scalable, systematic organization of our warehouse.
- Daily Gear Operations: Handle the day-to-day management, check-in, and check-out of our comprehensive video and audio assets for both in-house and field productions, diligently updating the inventory database.
- Production Support: Work closely with all production teams, facilitating smooth equipment handoffs and assisting with gear setup for various productions as needed.
- Maintenance & Health Tracking: Collaborate with production teams to monitor equipment health, perform routine maintenance, and swiftly address any issues affecting critical gear (e.g., cameras, lenses, microphones, batteries, and recorders).
- Technology Advancement: Continuously track current and emerging production technologies, providing informed recommendations for equipment rentals or purchases to keep our capabilities cutting-edge.
- Process Documentation: Ensure all operational procedures are strictly followed, documented, and updated whenever changes are implemented.
- Global Kit Oversight: Support the Executive Production team by managing the quality and function of globally distributed at-home production kits, ensuring they are consistently maintained and iterated upon.
- On-Location Assistance: Occasionally provide on-site operational support for executive at-home productions utilizing the standardized executive production kit.
- Crew Assistance: Offer support in various production crew positions as needed to help teams meet their goals.
Qualifications
- Professional Background: 5+ years of practical experience in AV logistics, production management, and/or event technology roles.
- Technical Gear Expertise: A strong working knowledge of professional video and audio equipment, including cinematic and event-based technology, with the ability to operate it effectively.
- Broadcast Proficiency: Deep understanding of broadcast equipment, including switchers, audio mixing consoles, encoders, and SSD recording devices.
- AV Signal Flow: A strong grasp of AV technology and signal flow, particularly as it relates to live event production (audio, video, and control systems).
- Equipment Handling: Experience with the proper storage, duty of care, and hands-on cleaning of delicate production gear (lenses, cameras, etc.).
- Rigging and Safety: Proficiency in the safe operation of lighting and grip hardware, including Combo stands and C-stands.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and organizational levels.
- Physical Stamina: The ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
- Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, knowing when and how to appropriately elevate critical issues.
- Computer Literacy: Proficient in Mac OS and comfortable connecting peripheral USB AV devices.
- Software Familiarity: Experience with the G Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and familiarity with ticketing systems like Jira or similar platforms.
- Inventory Software: Familiarity with equipment management software such as Cheqroom is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work on-site.
- Comfortable reporting to a remote-based team.
- Willingness to travel internationally with sufficient prior notice.
