Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and energetic Daycare/Preschool Teacher to join our growing preschool team! You will be responsible for encouraging children’s intellectual, psychological, and physical growth while maintaining a positive environment with parents, children, and co-workers. Our ideal candidate is nurturing, patient, and creative. If you have a passion for helping children learn and reach their potential, we want to hear from you! The preschool teacher must be over 18 years of age to pass DOJ/FBI background clearance. An AS/BS Degree in ECE or a related field, or equivalent, is desired for upholding Child Development & appropriate practices. Montessori certification or equivalent is a big plus.
We have 1 position available for a full-time role, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm. About 25% of your time will be outdoors on the playground with a small class, excellent child/teacher ratio, and always with a co-teacher. You will provide activities and lesson plans for children ages 2, 3, & 4 on a preset schedule, including music/movement, outdoor games, storytime, and arts & crafts daily. We are a private school with gentle, well-educated, and well-spoken, career-minded teachers. Our staff are professional teachers who enjoy their work. Responsibilities Plan developmentally appropriate games and activities Design daily and weekly schedules Provide basic care and potty training as needed Evaluate children to ensure developmental milestones are met Communicate with parents and update them on their children’s activities Prepare monthly activity newsletters with co-teacher Create and implement lesson plans with co-teacher Apply Montessori principles (training provided) Maintain outgoing personality and strong communication skills Prepare outdoor play materials Enjoy arts and crafts, sing children’s songs, and engage with children’s music Manage classroom effectively
Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience as a preschool teacher/childcare provider Reliable, punctual, with dependable transportation Strong understanding of child development Patient, kind, and nurturing Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills First aid/CPR certification CDA Associate Teacher Permit or similar Open to discussing salary, starting at $21+ DOE Childcare management/experience considered Master Teacher or Site Supervisor with at least 10 years experience (salary DOE) Professional teacher portfolio required Additional ECE/CD classes in Music, Art, Montessori, Language arts, or Director preferred
Additional Requirements Applicants must have completed 12-24 ECE units or be in progress, covering courses such as Child, Family & Community, Child-Human Growth & Development, Nutrition/Health/Safety, and Principles/Practices in ECE. Consideration may be given to less than 12-24 units based on coursework and classroom management experience. Certifications required include CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter, and immunizations for MMR, Pertussis, Influenza, and TB clearance. Proof of immunity and immunizations must be provided, with specific guidelines outlined for each. Personal exemptions for Measles and Tdap are no longer accepted unless declined by a physician for medical reasons.
