Davis & Elkins College seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Pitching Coach to join the Softball coaching staff. The ideal candidate will bring energy, technical expertise, and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field. This position focuses on the continued growth of the pitching staff through structured training, individualized instruction, and a strong emphasis on mental preparation and leadership. Responsibilities
Plan and implement pitching workouts that emphasize skill development, strength, endurance, and game strategy. Provide individualized instruction to pitchers focusing on mechanics, pitch development, and competitive mindset. Assist with scouting and game preparation, including opponent analysis and in-game adjustments for pitchers and catchers. Mentor student-athletes in alignment with the mission and values of Davis & Elkins College, emphasizing academic success, personal growth, and team culture. Recruit prospective student-athletes, including identifying, evaluating, and communicating with potential recruits. Collaborate with the Head Coach in the planning and execution of practices, games, travel, and team operations. Assist in video breakdown and data analysis to support performance improvement. Support compliance with NCAA Division II, Mountain East Conference, and institutional policies. Represent the softball program in a positive and professional manner both on campus and in the community. Qualifications
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel Bachelor’s degree required Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience in softball (pitching background required) Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor student-athletes Knowledge of current training techniques, pitching technology, and softball strategy Compensation and Benefits
Compensation will be commensurate with experience Opportunities for professional development and advancement within the athletics department may be available Application Process
