As a Data Governance Associate in the CIB Chief Data Office, you will play a key role in supporting the development and execution of data governance frameworks within the Commercial & Investment Bank. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across CIB and corporate functions to manage data risk, deliver actionable insights, and ensure compliance with firmwide standards. You will be part of a collaborative team that values innovation, partnership, and continuous improvement.
You will partner with executives and cross-functional teams to implement governance processes, develop tools, and support automation initiatives. This role offers exposure to emerging technologies and the opportunity to contribute to strategic data projects, including AI/ML governance and regulatory compliance.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare materials and documentation for Data Governance Forums and maintain governance inventories Support implementation of CIB Data Owner and CDO roles, ensuring timely completion of governance tasks Generate and distribute MIS reports, dashboards, and training metrics Refresh and manage governance documentation, including procedures and operating models Develop presentations for stakeholders, regulators, and clients Partner with CIB CDO executives to deliver data strategy and adhere to program governance requirements Conduct assurance activities and collaborate on data risk identification and management Report and escalate data risks, support planning, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations Deliver training and awareness campaigns, acting as a trusted advisor for data ownership Liaise for audit, regulatory, and client requests, applying analytical and visualization skills Manage project plans and coordinate across teams, including AI/ML, business, and technology partners Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment Minimum four years of experience in financial services or financial technology, leading complex projects with multiple stakeholders Background in financial services with emphasis on data governance, data risk management, or related disciplines Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a holistic understanding of business objectives Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills; proficient in Excel and PowerPoint Proven ability to work effectively with management and stakeholders to achieve business goals Self-starter with robust time management skills, able to multitask and perform under pressure Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across CIB and corporate functions Demonstrated interest in emerging technologies and big data within financial services High attention to detail and ability to work independently Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Experience in data governance or data risk management within an investment bank or large financial institution Understanding of banking and markets businesses, with knowledge of transaction flows Familiarity with data localization laws across jurisdictions Knowledge of identity access management and AI/ML governance Proficiency in Tableau, Qlik, or Alteryx is advantageous
