Position Summary: In collaboration with the FSP Team, provide peer support to parents in the program, helping them successfully achieve goals related to their child's well-being and family stability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Utilizes personal and professional life experience to provide peer support to parents and caregivers served by the program
Accesses community-based resources appropriate to the family’s needs in accordance with wraparound principles
Interfaces with Department of Children and Family Services, Department of Mental Health, court systems, schools, healthcare providers, and other community liaisons
Assists families with developing needs/strength assessments and comprehensive Plans of Care
Provides family-centered, community and strength-based support and advocacy
Conducts visits to homes or other service providers to help clients achieve their plan of care goals
Facilitates a monthly parenting support group and collaborates with team members to promote participation
Provides parenting education using a parenting curriculum
Follows state laws and agency guidelines regarding child abuse reporting
Maintains weekly service provision requirements
Participates actively in supervision and meetings
Receives and incorporates feedback from children, families, and community partners
Ensures accuracy and timely completion of work
Maintains consistent attendance
Follows up with supervisor on significant issues
Demonstrates ownership of responsibilities and adheres to agency guidelines
Maintains confidentiality per agency, HIPAA, and regulatory standards
Follows safety guidelines and participates in training
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED preferred
Must be a parent or legal guardian of a child with special needs or involved with LA County DCFS, Probation, or Mental Health
Experience as a Parent/Family Partner, Peer Advocate, or Parent Advocate preferred
Experience working with high-risk children and families
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Valid CA Driver's License, insurance, and acceptable driving record
Good communication and organizational skills
Physical ability to operate a vehicle
Must meet employment requirements including background checks and health screenings
Ability to demonstrate emotional stability and appropriate behavior with children and families
Salary range: $22.50 - $31.15 per hour. Hiring range: $22.50
