Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heart Failure ICU Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients with heart failure in the intensive care unit.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive physical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with heart failure in the ICU.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging, to assist in the diagnosis and management of heart failure.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and holistic care to patients.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Monitor and manage patients' symptoms and vital signs, and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
Educate patients and their families about heart failure, treatment options, and self‑care strategies.
Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects related to heart failure care.
Stay current on advancements and best practices in heart failure management through continuing education and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the state of Texas.
Board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
Heart Failure ICU Advanced Practice Provider - FT Nights - Texas Medical Center.
Rotating weekends & holidays; No call.
12‑hour shifts (paid for 40 hours).
AGACNP required.
2+ years of RN, NP or PA Critical Care experience required; Cardiology experience preferred.
New NPs must have 2+ years of Critical Care ICU RN experience.
Experience with heart failure population required (RN or NP), even if from a mixed ICU.
WILL TRAIN ON DEVICES.
Patient populations include VV/VA ECMO, Mechanical Circulatory Support, Heart Transplant, Lung Transplant, LVAD, Post‑op Cardiac Surgery.
8% geographical differential for the medical center.
2‑3 month credentialing process.
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of heart failure management and treatment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency in electronic medical record systems.
BLS and ACLS certification.
