The Opportunity As a

Senior Structural – Transmission Line Engineer

you will have the opportunity to:

Support design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes.

Support large, extensive 345 kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, including trending technologies like HVDC and 765 kV.

Collect and assimilate data for engineering work. Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.

Develop recommendations for equipment and materials. Understand and work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.

May assist with providing guidance to engineering team members.

Maintain positive client relations by understanding client interests and drivers through effective communication with the project team.

May assist with business development activities.

Function as a technical specialist or in a lead role.

With minimal supervision, apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods.

Expand knowledge and skill set in area of discipline.

The Team As part of

BV Operations , your skills will be aligned to projects that support our three market sectors – Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. You will be engaged with exciting projects across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

Proactively provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies. May own, maintain, update, or develop engineering standards and guides. Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects or disciplines.

Apply knowledge and ensure compliance with B&V quality program. Establish related processes and promote a culture that is conducive to quality. Support continuous improvement, change management and risk management efforts.

Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects. Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work.

Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Develop and apply advanced engineering solutions to complex problems. Review lower level engineering work or assignments.

Coordinate with all other internal/external team members on complex projects. Define project schedules for single discipline or multiple disciplines.

Determine identification of key client interests and drivers on projects. Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns.

Identify future client needs and how to better position B&V for the future. Offer other services to the client. Provide support to business development or pursuit activities.

Serve as the technical specialist in a broad area of specialization or in a narrow but specialized field. Develop and apply advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems. Support multiple projects on very complex technical challenges.

Oversee performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions. Mentor lower level and mid level professionals and identify successors for role training.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong experience in 69 kV to 500 kV overhead transmission line design and working knowledge and/or expertise in Power Line system-based programs (i.e., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE).

Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline.

Previous client interaction experience with solid relationship‑building abilities in pursuit of business opportunities.

Experience with the design of utility‑scale electrical transmission systems.

Structural design of transmission steel structures and their foundations.

Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.

Minimum of 11 years related work experience.

Work Environment / Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
