2nd Shift Production Manager – Pro‑Active Engineering
The Second Shift Production Manager position is responsible for supervising production employees within their assigned area while performing the work required for specific specialized assignments. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.
Essential Functions
Adhere to the company’s ISO Quality Management System.
Move and manage flow of product through the various secondary operations processes.
Provide employee coaching and development within department to IPC‑A‑610 standards.
Assign and oversee the following work daily for direct reports.
Populate printed circuit boards with thru‑hole or secondary operation components.
Solder thru‑hole components per IPC‑A‑610 class 2 and 3 standards as needed.
Depanelize printed circuit boards.
Trimming, clipping, tinning of wires and leads.
Prep raw components for secondary operations.
Washing of finished printed circuit board assemblies.
Glue, epoxy and mask circuit boards.
Operate and maintain automated production equipment.
Inspection of soldered thru‑hole components.
Final inspection of thru‑hole and surface mount components.
Transfer and complete routing operations in ERP software.
Attend and report at daily production meeting; provide updates via email to 1st shift.
Follow internal assembly process documentation ensuring product meets internal, customer, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure team members are logging their time in ERP system.
Ensure work area is kept clean and free of debris.
Adhere to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility This position oversees various positions on second shift and is responsible for the employee life cycle and performance management of these employees.
Work Environment The employee is occasionally exposed to working near moving mechanical parts and caustic fumes or airborne particles. Noise level is usually low to moderate.
Physical Demands Employee must sit, use hands, reach with arms, use fine motor skills, perform repetitive motions, and lift/move up to 40 lbs. Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and focus adjustment.
Travel Little to no travel is expected.
Required Education and Experience
Ability to work 2nd Shift (4:00 pm–1:30 am); capable of occasional overtime.
2 years of experience in a leadership role; ability to lead, motivate and manage a team.
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production analytics tools.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience in electronics manufacturing or related industry.
Experience in a contract manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of reflow, through‑hole hand, wave soldering, AOI/X‑ray inspection, and box build processes.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other quality management systems.
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
Working knowledge of IPC standards (e.g., IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001).
