The USF Health Heart Institute conducts basic, translational, and clinical research and provides patient care related to cardiovascular diseases. At its core, the Institute’s research activities address the root causes of cardiovascular diseases, such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, congenital heart disease, cardiac arrhythmias, peripheral vascular disease, and renal metabolic and pulmonary disease as they relate to the heart. The Institute translates knowledge gained across these domains into novel therapeutics and diagnostics to improve the treatment and quality of life. Responsibilities

The Senior Research Scientist will directly support the principal investigator and research efforts in Dr. Kay Everett’s translational research laboratory. They will be the primary surgical operator to lead animal experiments required for current and future grant‑funded research. Duties include study coordination, experimental design, setup, instrumentation, data collection, documentation, troubleshooting, organization and analysis of results. As the Laboratory Director, the candidate will also be responsible for ordering equipment, medications, and supplies. They will also be the point of contact for collaborators across USF, TGH, CAMLS, and outside partners. Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a natural, physical or medical science with 5 years of experience. Preferred Qualifications

Excellent technical, leadership, and communication skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to make real‑time decisions in complex environments. Degree Equivalency Clause

Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.
