Schedule: includes three 12‑hour and one rotating 8‑hour day shifts with days off TBD based on institutional needs. The first 4–6 months will include Operating Room Orientation, Monday–Friday, 6:30 am–3:00 pm.
SUMMARY The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse position with the GYN, Genitourinary, Thoracic and Vascular is to positively affect patient outcomes by providing, coordinating, and supporting evidence‑based direct patient care across the continuum of care. The highest quality of patient care and the appropriate use of resources is achieved in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
The Clinical Nurse in the Operating Room must have at least one year of nursing experience in the Operating Room. The ideal candidate will have recent Operating Room experience in ENT and Plastics utilizing free flap procedures.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Transformational Leadership: Lead others (co‑workers, patients, families, significant others) to meet future care needs.
Organize and prioritize patient care team work.
Assure continuity of care across transitions with appropriate discharge planning, education, and coordination of services.
Practice autonomously within scope of professional nursing practice.
Structural Empowerment: Problem‑solve to meet organizational and unit goals and achieve desired outcomes.
Active member in shared decision‑making at the unit level.
Accountable for identifying barriers to patient care and solutions.
Develop strong relationships and partnerships with the organization to improve patient outcomes.
Exemplary Professional Practice: Demonstrate understanding of the role of professional nursing in the institution through relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
Train, coach, and assist team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.
Accountable for management and provision of patient care in assigned area.
Effectively and consistently function in related roles as required (charge nurse, preceptor, clinical coach, protocol manager).
Demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures, and managing emergencies.
Assess patients' needs for nursing care and other services.
Collaborate with physicians, other services, patient, and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
Advocate for patients and families to uphold patient rights.
New Knowledge, Innovation, and Improvements: Integrate innovation and research‑based findings into daily patient care practices.
Improve practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.
Participate in or lead evidence‑based practice projects.
Participate in redesign of care delivery for unit/center patient population.
Empirical Quality Results: Seek solutions to problems inherent in the institution.
Integrate safety and quality standards into practice and delivery of team care.
Minimize at‑risk behavior in self and others.
Actively report using Good Catch and incident reporting systems.
Collaborate in quality and performance improvement efforts.
Document care according to established standards.

EDUCATION Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
EXPERIENCE Preferred: At least one year of Operating Room registered nursing experience.
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification if working in the following department: Nurse Post Anesthesia Care Unit (600160).
