Sr. Neurobiology Lab Research Associate - 137370 Position Summary

Under supervision, the incumbent will assist researchers in Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease to explore the biology of these conditions and decipher underlying mechanisms. The role requires significant innovative contributions toward research goals, educating students, and training in immunostaining and morphological analysis including confocal microscopy.

Responsibilities

Assist researchers in Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease research.

Make significant innovative contributions toward research goals.

Educate students and train them in immunostaining and morphological analysis, including confocal microscopy.

Perform SDS‑PAGE and Western immunoblotting.

Conduct ELISAs, RNA isolation, and RT‑qPCR.

Maintain general lab upkeep and safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong theoretical knowledge in Neuroscience or Biology, typically achieved by a bachelor’s degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proven experience working with mice.

Strong experience with immunocytochemical and immunofluorescence microscopy.

Experience in performing DAB and fluorescence staining.

Expertise in assessing morphological parameters in disease model brains, including unbiased stereology.

Experience with routine culture techniques, sterilization, and proper disposal of tissue culture waste.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills, initiative, and advanced experimental technique learning.

Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills with a diverse population.

Strong computer skills using network systems and web‑based databases; experience creating and maintaining databases.

Knowledge of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Down Syndrome.

Special Conditions

Must be available to work some weekends and evenings.

Must be able to work in an animal research related environment.

Must be willing to work with mice.

Annual Full Pay Range:

$69,763 – $112,181 (prorated for less than 100% appointment)
