Clinical Lab Scientist I - Special Chemistry
Location: San Juan Capistrano, CA. Shift: Tuesday to Saturday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM (second shift). Pay range: $37.41–$56.44 per hour. Shift differential: 10% on second shift, 15% on third shift.
Annual performance bonus compensation may be eligible.

Responsibilities:
Independently performs moderate to highly complex clinical tests following required procedures and policies.
Prepares reagents or media, stock solutions, standards, and controls; evaluates new reagents based on standard criteria.
Determines specimen acceptability, calculates results using manual or computerized methods, and enters results accurately.
Checks computer review reports to ensure accurate reporting; maintains turnaround times.
Evaluates routine and complex analyses before releasing reports; responds to critical values or unusual results.
Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory equipment; conducts performance checks, linearity, accuracy, and precision checks.
Performs quality control and calibrations; initiates corrective action when test systems do not meet criteria.
Accurately performs and records proficiency testing.
Ensures accurate tracking and labeling of reagents and supplies; maintains a clean work area.
Communicates effectively with staff, suppliers, internal and external customers.
Participates in staff and quality improvement meetings.
Assumes additional business‑related responsibilities or projects as delegated.
Follows safety, environmental, and infection control procedures.
Consistently maintains confidentiality and integrity.
Opens supervision to unlicensed staff as needed and supports training programs.
Engages in continuing education to meet California licensure requirements.
Handles phone communications and complies with all health and safety policies.
Qualifications:
Zero to three years of direct laboratory experience.
Bachelor’s degree in science required.
Active California Laboratory Scientist (generalist or limited) license.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong typing skills desirable.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Lift up to 10 lb frequently; 11–25 lb occasionally; 26–50 lb seldom; >50 lb not allowed without assistance.
Perform repetitive tasks; sit or stand for long periods.
Good eye and hand coordination; color‑blindness test required for roles involving color detection.
