Summary of Job Duties:
The Associate Director, Denial Prevention/Reimbursement analyzes, interprets, and identifies insurance denials and charge capture related performance variations. The role develops mitigation strategies, coordinates denial prevention projects, and leads charge capture and reconciliation efforts to maximize reimbursement. Responsibilities include managing revenue cycle analysts, overseeing clinical trial claims, participating in the charge master committee, and collaborating with departments such as Accounts Receivable, HIM, Coding, Patient Access, and Clinical Operations.
Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret insurance denials and charge capture data to identify root causes and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and execute denial prevention plans anchored in core analytics and effective communication with stakeholders.
Lead charge capture and reconciliation projects to ensure operational efficiency and revenue optimization.
Manage and mentor revenue cycle and charge capture analysts.
Coordinate with the charge master committee and monitor pharmacy charging issues.
Support clinical trials by ensuring accurate coding and billing practices.
Design and implement process improvements to reduce coding, charging, billing, and late charge errors.
Participate in leadership development activities and provide ongoing performance feedback.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, nursing, or related field with 5+ years of experience in revenue-focused healthcare settings.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and Windows operating system.
Deep knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, charge capture, and reimbursement methods.
Advanced knowledge of coding (CPT, HCPCS, ICD‑10), NCCI edits, Medicare LCD/NCDs, and reimbursement methodologies (DRG, OPPS).
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organization skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
Preferred Qualifications
7+ years of experience in revenue analytics for healthcare service lines.
Professional certifications such as RN, CCS, CPC, CPA.
Understanding of CPT/HCPCS coding, payer regulations, and reimbursement.
Data visualization experience using Power BI.
Working knowledge of Epic HB Resolute, PB Resolute, and Epic Slicer Dicer.
