Base pay range $167,000.00/yr - $233,000.00/yr

Meta seeks a tech enthusiast to serve as Product Counsel for Meta’s AI product counseling team. You will advise the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning teams on legal and regulatory issues, which will require application of complex and evolving legal frameworks to a new space. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues in an exciting environment, as we build and scale our global community. This is a full‑time position.

Product Counsel Responsibilities

Serve as primary legal partner for several AI product teams working on proposed AI and ML initiatives, including research and publications, to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions

Lead consensus building across legal and coordinate legal advice across complex and multifaceted legal issues such as data protection and privacy, IP, intermediary liability, consumer protection, security, e‑commerce, payments, integrity and other global legal frameworks

Review global products, features, platforms and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions

Coordinate with public policy, communications, product management, engineering, product marketing, trust and safety, and other cross‑functional teams on external communications, policy development, and product development and launches

Minimum Qualifications

J.D. (or foreign equivalent) with active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in‑house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location)

3+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in‑house or government experience

Experience working with mobile, application development, social networking, or other Internet companies

Experience working independently and cross‑functionally

Preferred Qualifications

In‑house and privacy experience

Technology litigation experience

Understanding of AI and ML practices and the underlying technology

Product counseling experience with building and supporting products
