Position Overview
A mission-driven non-profit organization located in Manhattan is seeking a strategic and compassionate
Director of Human Resources
to lead its HR function. This role is ideal for a seasoned HR professional who thrives in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment and is passionate about building inclusive, people-centered workplaces.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and values.
Oversee all HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, and compliance.
Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and employee engagement.
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the organization.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Lead and support change management efforts as the organization evolves.
Manage HR systems, policies, and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
8+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles.
Prior experience in the
non-profit sector
strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and organizational development.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution.
