Systems Engineer
to support the
In‑Flight Interceptor Communications System (IFICS) Data Terminal (IDT) product team
on the
Ground Based Mid‑course Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) program.
Responsibilities You will perform Systems Engineering functions such as requirements decomposition, hardware fault analysis, and hardware‑to‑software interface definition, and testing as part of the IDT product team.
An ideal candidate will have an extensive background in hardware to include experience developing Test Plans, performing Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT), and knowledge of hardware to software interfaces, as well as experience diagnosing hardware faults (fault detection and fault isolation), and be able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
Perform systems engineering and hardware analysis, including requirements decomposition, hardware‑to‑software interface definition, and fault analysis
Develop and execute Test Plans and Test Procedures for hardware systems in accordance with DoD standards
Conduct and support Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT) using MIL‑STD‑810, EMI (MIL‑STD‑461), E3 (MIL‑STD‑464), and HEMP (MIL‑STD‑188‑125) protocols
Lead hardware fault detection and isolation activities to ensure robust field reliability
Provide technical documentation and clearly communicate system performance, risks, and design recommendations
Engage in Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) planning in accordance with MIL‑HDBK‑344
Support interface alignment between Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA) and system hardware
Collaborate across disciplines to ensure cohesive integration between software, hardware, and test functions
Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
Active Secret Clearance required
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related STEM field is required and
proven high level experience with:
Developing Test Plans and Test Procedures for DoD programs
Working with MIL‑STD‑810 and performing Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT)
Working with Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA)
Working, designing, and/or developing with Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) per MIL‑STD‑461 and Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) per MIL‑STD‑464
Designing, and/or developing with High‑Altitude electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) per MIL‑STD‑188‑125‑1 and MIL‑STD‑188‑125‑2
Working, designing, and/or developing with Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) per MIL‑HDBK‑344
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working on Missile Defense programs (Ground‑Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) highly preferred)
Proficiency with using IBM Rational DOORS for managing requirements
Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
Experience working in Agile methodology environments
Exposure to Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Cameo
Familiar with Software Containerization and Orchestration
Familiar with DevSecOps
