M. O’Connor Contracting, Inc. is a full-service general contracting firm specializing in delivering high-quality construction projects on time and within budget. We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Estimator with experience in reading and interpreting drawings and specifications to join our growing team. This role is perfect for someone who is motivated, collaborative, and eager to grow their estimating skills.

What You’ll Do
Review and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications to create accurate quantity take‑offs.
Assist in preparing estimates, budgets, and proposals for a wide range of projects.
Compare, analyze, and confirm bids align with project scope and specifications.
Solicit and coordinate subcontractor/vendor proposals, ensuring 3–5 qualified bids per trade/supplier group.
Conduct occasional site visits, participate in bid deliveries, and collaborate closely with the estimating team.
Provide general support to the Estimator and project team throughout preconstruction and bidding phases.
What We’re Looking For
Prior estimating experience and the ability to confidently read and interpret construction drawings and specifications (required).
A degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field
OR
2+ years of construction industry experience, specifically in estimating.
Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with PlanSwift or similar software is a plus.
Detail-oriented, organized, and analytical – someone who enjoys problem-solving and numbers.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable interacting with subcontractors, vendors, and teammates.
