We are currently seeking an experienced Mission Assurance Engineer (Level 2 or 3) to support the Mission & Quality Assurance functions at our Elkton, Maryland site.

Location Elkton, Maryland

– a hub for solid‑propellant rocket operations. Located midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore, with access to parks, trails, and waterfront.

Job Summary Implement mission assurance (MA) plans for individual programs supporting proposals, planning, design, manufacturing, integration, and test activities in accordance with company and contractual requirements. Work as part of an integrated product team with NG Mission Assurance staff to address technical and quality issues, meet program requirements and ensure mission success. Interface with customers, vendors, and NG Program Management, Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Integration, and Test organizations.

Job Responsibilities

Establish and maintain Quality Assurance programs, procedures, and controls ensuring that products and services conform to company standards.

Support development, implementation, and maintenance of quality policy and procedures within the Quality Management System (QMS); perform internal audits to assess conformance.

Interface with suppliers for verification of product design, quality, and reliability.

Review practices, procedures, and processes, seeking ways to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and reduce risk to product quality.

Interpret customer technical and MA requirements and ensure integration into program plans, specifications, and product drawings.

Ensure program contract requirements are flowed down internally to the production floor and externally to suppliers.

Ensure compliance with contract program, quality, organizational, and industry alert requirements.

Provide oversight into discrepancy review and failure investigations, as well as cause and corrective action determinations.

Analyze and interpret trends; execute improvements using data from key metrics.

Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) analysis and problem‑solving activities on program‑specific quality system deficiencies.

Represent Mission Assurance at program reviews and review boards including Configuration Control Board (CCB), Material Review Board (MRB), Program Management Reviews (PMR), design/peer reviews, Manufacturing/Test Readiness Reviews (MRR/TRR), and Corrective Action Board (CAB).

Ensure risk management activities (including dFMEA/pFMEA) are executed according to standards and procedures.

Basic Qualifications – Mission Assurance Engineer 2

6+ years of experience as a quality / mission assurance engineer, or B.S. in STEM + 2 years experience, or M.S. in STEM.

Deep technical expertise; understanding of engineering principles, practices, and theories.

Ability to read engineering documentation, interpret dimensions, features, and parts lists, develop inspection plans and identify critical features.

Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proficiency with enterprise‑wide systems.

Knowledge of RC & CA tools (Ishikawa, FMEA, DOE, KTA, 5‑Why).

Knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as AS or ISO.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.

Team player who can work well in a collaborative environment.

Must obtain a DoD Secret Clearance; US citizenship required.

Basic Qualifications – Principal Mission Assurance Engineer 3

9+ years of experience as a quality / mission assurance engineer, or B.S. in STEM + 5 years experience, or M.S. in STEM + 3 years experience.

Deep technical expertise; understanding of engineering principles, practices, and theories.

Ability to read engineering documentation, interpret dimensions, features, and parts lists, develop inspection plans and identify critical features.

Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proficiency with enterprise‑wide systems.

Knowledge of RC & CA tools (Ishikawa, FMEA, DOE, KTA, 5‑Why).

Experience managing/supporting elements of a Quality Management System such as AS or ISO.

Excellent written and oral communication and strong interpersonal & problem‑solving skills.

Independent, self‑starter able to solve complex technical problems toward implementable solutions.

Leadership in implementing Mission Assurance requirements across cross‑functional teams.

Must obtain a DoD Secret Clearance; US citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

Active Secret Security Clearance

Accredited certification in Quality and/or Mission Assurance

Familiarity with key materials, technologies, or processes (machining, welding, CT scanning, additive manufacturing, laser inspection, chemical processing)

Process control and improvement experience; knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar tools.

Other Information

This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by ATF; candidates must complete an Employee Possessor Questionnaire.

Salary ranges: Primary Level $85,400–$128,000; Secondary Level $105,400–$158,000.

Eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and Long‑Term Incentives for certain positions.
