Overview
The full‑time Assistant Store Manager is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in all aspects of running the store, including sales, customer experience, store operations, and visual merchandising. This role is ideal for a leader who is equally passionate about customer experience, operational excellence, and creating an inspiring, customer‑focused shopping environment. Responsibilities include opening/closing the store, leading the team, and managing operational and visual merchandising tasks.
Responsibilities
Support daily operations and manage a high-performing team.
Coach and motivate associates to deliver exceptional customer service and meet sales goals.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training.
Lead by example on the sales floor, engaging customers and providing personalized service.
Empower the team to deliver a consistent, elevated customer experience.
Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to drive conversion and average ticket.
Oversee visual merchandising standards, ensuring the store aligns with brand guidelines.
Plan and implement seasonal floor sets, promotional displays, and product placement.
Train and guide the team on visual presentation and storytelling.
Support inventory flow, including receiving, restocking, and inventory accuracy.
Ensure operational efficiency through task delegation and process improvements.
Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and safety/loss prevention protocols.
Qualifications
5+ years retail experience, preferably in home decor, with management experience.
Ability to balance sales, customer experience, operations, and visual merchandising duties.
Exceptional leadership focused on collaboration and results.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing profitability.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Proficiency in retail management systems and Microsoft Office.
Must be able to work 40 hours per week; weekends, holidays, evenings, and occasional travel required.
A valid driver’s licence.
Physical capabilities: ascend/descend ladder, retrieve/stock products, move merchandise up to 50 lbs, and operate POS efficiently.
