CMM Programmer

Pay Range Base pay: $28.50/hr - $42.50/hr
Position Summary Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
CMM programmers program and operate coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to perform inspections on machined aerospace parts. This role documents specific information regarding approvals and non‑conforming parts and may be involved in problem‑solving to identify re‑work requirements. The CMM team participates in development and maintenance of our quality system and associated policies, procedures, and work processes. Personnel may also provide quality and/or manufacturing process training for manufacturing personnel.
Essential Functions
Program and operate a CMM(s); revise programs to maximize effectiveness and efficiency
Investigate and collaborate with cross‑functional team members to resolve manufacturing‑related non‑conformances or other concerns
Initiate nonconformance records and disposition of parts not meeting requirements
Complete First Article Inspections to AS9102 and company/contractual requirements
Continuously strive to improve inspection effectiveness and efficiency by recommending and supporting implementation of process improvements
Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external personnel to identify root causes, troubleshoot and address errors and trends, and negotiate resolution of non‑conforming parts and necessary re‑work or re‑inspection
Provide technical support for manufacturing operations to ensure part quality
Interpret drawings featuring Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) to identify product inspection requirements
Participate in design reviews on cross‑functional teams to ensure conformance to specifications, inspect ability, reliability, and quality system objectives are met
Assist engineering with qualification and validation of new or changed tooling or parts
Analyze inspection reports to determine adherence to drawings, specifications, and processing procedures
Prepare detailed inspection documentation such as written descriptions of inspection results including deviations from engineering specifications
Complete other duties as required
Maintain regular attendance on site at the workplace
Work Experience
Five to ten years of technical machining, programming, or similar experience, of which at least two to three years should be in quality assurance; aerospace industry experience highly preferred
Three years of CMM programming experience in CMM Manager
Required Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of customer and industry standards and quality system requirements including AS9100, FAA requirements is desired
Knowledge of problem‑solving techniques, e.g. Statistical Quality Control/Statistical Process‑Control
Experience conducting Lean Manufacturing exercises and Six Sigma projects preferred
Demonstrated accuracy in reading and interpreting blueprints, planning and engineering documents, quality standards, customer specifications, and other technical design standards
Advanced mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide using fractions and decimal equivalents)
Experience accurately reading precision measuring instrumentation including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, tape measures, and other similar devices
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (English)
Basic skills using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word; ERP experience is advantageous
Education
High school diploma/GED required
Four‑year technical degree or equivalent education/experience preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, including all buildings and the manufacturing areas
Periodically lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 100 pounds using cranes or other material handling equipment and/or peer assistance
Regularly climb steps, stairs, or ladders
Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
Constantly communicate verbally and in writing (English) using a phone, texts, or other messaging
Visual acuity to accurately read micrometers, calipers, or other precision measuring instruments; accurately distinguish colors
Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; exposed to excessive noise (hearing protection required), dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally), extreme temperatures (occasionally), hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment
Use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and safety footwear is required
