Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a

Functional Homeroom Systems Engineering Manager 2.

This position is located at either

Huntsville, AL

or

Roy, Utah . Relocation assistance may be provided.

What You’ll Get To Do The selected candidate will be responsible for a Systems Engineering discipline Section within the SDS Systems Engineering organization and will report directly to the GN&C Department Manager. You will provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team (Section) of between 8 and 12 Individual Contributors (ICs) based on engineering goals, objectives, and company policy.

Key FHR responsibilities will be personnel performance management, process familiarization and training for Section members, as well as staffing of roles on projects.

As a Section Manager you will be expected to spend roughly 20% of your effort on Functional Homeroom responsibilities with 80% of your efforts focused on a technical assignment on an SDS project or IPT (80% technical scope not a part of the requisition).

Skills

Development and analysis of GN&C algorithms (guidance, navigation, control)

Development, verification and/or validation of complex 6 degree of freedom vehicle models

Modeling of key GN&C missile components such as inertial measurement units (IMU) or thrust vector control (TVC) systems

Demonstrated proficiency MATLAB and Simulink

Pre-flight performance assessment and post-flight verification analyses

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) with at least 8 years of related experience

Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance

Managing people preferred

Experience with process improvement, and driving cadence of team’s execution

Strategic Deterrence System (SDS) Scope of Work (80% FTE)

These Qualifications Would Be Nice To Have

M.S. or equivalent advanced degree in applicable technical discipline

5+ years of experience in Guidance, Navigation, and Control engineering

3+ years of experience leading a project/team, including mentoring and coaching

3+ years of experience with a software version control system, such as Git

5+ years of experience with MATLAB/Simulink

3+ years of experience with Object-Oriented Programming

Proficiency in technical writing and documentation

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,100.00 - $224,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
