The Field Engineering Representative (FER) is a key role within the American Rheinmetall Vehicles (ARV) team focused on ensuring that U.S. Government testing of Rheinmetall products is safe, follows the test schedule and plan, and exceeds the customer’s quality expectations. The FER supports daily maintenance actions and repairs of test vehicle platforms across ARV’s Field Service Section at U.S. Government and civilian test sites, including locations such as Aberdeen, MD; ARV HQ; Sterling Heights, MI; Yuma, AZ; White Sands Missile Range, NM; and other U.S. or AR test sites.
Essential Functions
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
Support test site operations, including on‑site system support packages, spares storage, and consumables.
Develop work packages for test and maintenance of test assets.
Perform platform‑level troubleshooting and repairs to keep platforms available for U.S. Government testing.
Conduct vehicle repairs, maintenance, and upgrades in accordance with program requirements and schedules to ensure successful test outcomes.
Provide status and progress updates on vehicle maintenance and upgrade activities to AR and U.S. Government test personnel.
Collaborate with FER personnel across the Rheinmetall landscape to build maintenance field procedures and best practices in the AR portfolio.
Adhere to all company and U.S. Government safety and environmental regulations and policies.
Undertake other duties as determined by management or its delegate.

Minimum Qualifications
Self‑starter with the ability to take direction from superiors in day‑to‑day duties.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
Knowledge of U.S. Army maintenance procedures and operations; proven experience on wheeled and tracked platforms.
Ability to work in a high‑pressure, highly visible environment.
Team player with strong communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and other technical instructions.
Proficient use of basic mechanical tools.
Familiarity with U.S. DoD ground vehicle requirements.
Detailed knowledge of shop‑related standards/processes.
Capability to present mechanical solutions to clients and stakeholders.
Ability to protect company’s critical information and plan.
Education
Associate’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems) or equivalent work experience.
Experience
4+ years armored vehicle operations/maintenance experience in any military ground combat vehicle MOS preferred.
5+ years Field Service/Engineer Representative (FSR/FER) at U.S. Government test sites.
Practical, self‑starter who can work independently with minimal supervision while performing routine vehicle maintenance tasks and repairs.
Experience in prototype production and transition to serial production.
Background Prerequisites
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, and controlled substance testing.
Employment at ARV is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a U.S. government security clearance.
Preferred Prerequisites
Ability to speak German is desirable.
Associate’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems) or equivalent work experience desired.
Working Conditions And Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Occasional overseas travel required.
Passport required.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
