The Assistant Professor of Sociology is a tenure‑track position. Duties include teaching undergraduate courses, engaging in scholarly activity, mentoring and advising students, and participating in departmental and university activities. Additional responsibilities may involve curriculum development, professional development, and seeking external funding for research. Sponsorship is not available for this position. Responsibilities
Teaching
Deliver courses across introductory, advanced, and specialized sociology topics. Develop and refine course content and curricula. Serve as an academic advisor, guiding course selection, career planning, and other academic matters.
Student Success
Mentor and supervise students, fostering professional practices and career-based competencies.
Scholarly Activity
Maintain scholarly engagement appropriate to the field, including publishing, presentations, workshops, conferences, and grant writing.
Service
Participate in departmental committees and meetings. Contribute to university‑wide initiatives and committees. Engage the community through public speaking, outreach programs, and related activities.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Sociology. Experience teaching sociology. Record of scholarly achievement and/or impactful service. Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in Sociology. College teaching experience. Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration. Salary Range
$51,600 to $57,000. Required Documents to Attach
