Base pay range $70,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr

Job Summary The Benefits Manager is responsible for the administration, communication, and compliance of all employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, leave programs, and other ancillary benefits. This role ensures that benefit offerings support the organization's talent strategies, remain cost‑effective, and comply with applicable laws and regulations. The Benefits Manager works closely with brokers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver high‑quality benefits services to employees.

Supervises: Benefits Specialist

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise and mentor the Benefits Specialist to ensure accuracy and consistency in daily benefits administration.

Coordinate with HR and Payroll teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of benefit enrollments and changes.

Serve as the primary liaison between employees and third‑party benefits providers.

Collaborate with leadership to evaluate, design, and recommend competitive benefits packages.

Duties / Responsibilities

Administer and manage the company’s benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, FMLA, COBRA, and retirement plans.

Serve as a subject matter expert on benefits‑related inquiries from employees, HR, and leadership.

Facilitate annual open enrollment processes, including employee education, vendor coordination, and system setup.

Manage and audit benefits data in HRIS/payroll systems to ensure accuracy of deductions, eligibility, and coverage.

Oversee compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, COBRA, and other federal and state benefit regulations.

Maintain and update benefit plan documents, SPDs, and ensure required notices are distributed appropriately.

Develop and deliver training sessions and communication materials regarding benefit offerings and policy changes.

Analyze benefits utilization, costs, and trends; provide reports and strategic recommendations to leadership.

Partner with brokers and vendors for renewals, plan design, and resolution of service issues.

Stay current on benefit trends, legislative changes, and best practices in employee benefits.

Support wellness programs and initiatives that promote employee health and well‑being.

Manage leave of absence programs including FMLA, personal leave, and short/long‑term disability.

Other duties as assigned.

Education / Certifications / Licenses

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required

CEBS, PHR, or SHRM‑CP certification preferred

Required Skills / Abilities

In‑depth knowledge of benefit plans and applicable federal/state laws (ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, etc.)

Proficiency in benefits administration platforms and HRIS systems

Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities

Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Experience with vendor negotiations and plan benchmarking

Physical Demands / Working Environment

Working Environment: Office Setting; requires availability for shifts (8 or 12 hours); fast‑paced professional environment.
