Job Type: Full‑time – 40 hours per week. Schedule: 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Pay Range: $22.50 – $33.75 per hour.
Job Summary : Under direct supervision, prepare laboratory specimens for storage or shipment according to investigator study protocol in the Clinical Research Unit Laboratory. Process body fluids, tissue, and other materials for storage or shipment to various laboratories. Perform a variety of moderately complex and generally standardized physical, chemical, or biological tests following established protocols. Provide direction and guidance to lab staff.
Education / Experience Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Zoology, or another related science; or high school diploma with at least four years of related clinical/research experience.
Essential Functions
Plan work schedule according to priority.
Process specimens in accordance with investigator study protocols.
Document any corrective actions required.
Perform equipment maintenance and quality‑assurance procedures; maintain related records.
Maintain adequate inventory of supplies to meet laboratory needs.
Enter specimen tracking information into WISER BSM or other applicable software.
Conduct standardized chemical, physical, and biological tests on experimental and clinical materials.
Set up equipment and organize materials for scheduled tests, experiments, and operations.
Receive, inventory, and evaluate incoming specimens to ensure laboratory quality.
Prepare reagents as needed.
Provide coverage during holidays, vacations, or staff absences.
Review scientific journals, abstracts, and other publications for information applicable to research projects.
Perform other related duties as needed.
Skills / Qualifications
Knowledge of routine record‑keeping and laboratory safety precautions.
Ability to perform basic laboratory tasks, maintain accurate written records, and use a computer.
Good listening and communication skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology to interact with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results.
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and universal precautions.
Work Environment
Lab environment with frequent exposure to diseases, medicinal preparations, and other laboratory conditions.
Must wear protective equipment (gloves, gowns/lab coats, eye and face protection).
Exposure to glass and other breakable objects.
Exposure to animals.
