Assistant Girls Track Coach – Shadow Mountain High School Paradise Valley Unified School District is seeking an Assistant Girls Track Coach (FTE 0.5) on a temporary basis for the 2025‑26 season (Feb 9 2026 – May 9 2026). All coaches must be district‑approved volunteers. The position is located at Shadow Mountain High School, Phoenix, AZ.

Compensation & Status

Addenda Amount: $1,215.50

FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt

Employment Type: Full‑time (temporary)

Essential Functions

Assess student athletes, providing feedback on individual performance and determining team placement.

Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences to receive and convey information relevant to the role.

Communicate with parents, students, officials, administrators, and the community to provide information, assistance, and direction.

Instruct student athletes to promote athletic skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Maintain records such as statistics, insurance, permission forms, schedules, and equipment inventories to comply with district, conference, and state requirements.

Manage uniforms, equipment, and facilities to keep items in a responsible and safe condition.

Monitor academic eligibility to comply with AIA requirements and provide intervention for students needing assistance.

Supervise athletes during all participation to ensure activities are conducted in a minimally risky environment.

Teach sports techniques, rules, strategies, and tactics to prepare the team and individual athletes for competition.

Other Functions

Perform other related duties as assigned to maintain efficient and effective operation of the work unit.

Responsibilities Work under limited supervision following standardized practices, directing a small work unit and utilizing resources from other units as needed. Opportunity to impact the organization’s services continually.

Work Environment

Physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, fine finger dexterity.

Typical distribution: 20% sitting, 40% walking, 40% standing.

Exposure to temperature extremes and risk of injury/illness.

Experience & Qualifications

Job‑related experience required.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of injury prevention, equipment usage, laws and regulations, eligibility and discipline guidelines, public relations, and safety procedures.

Skills in scheduling, data collation, equipment operation, and problem solving.

Ability to communicate across diverse backgrounds, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and enforce sportsmanship.

Clearances & Testing

Criminal background clearance.

Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP fingerprint clearance card.
