Position Summary Financial and Budget Analyst – Student Affairs. Under the direction of the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO), this role performs complex financial, budgetary, and compliance analysis for the Division of Student Affairs, supporting long‑range financial planning, fiscal performance evaluation, and process improvements.

Responsibilities

Prepare internal and external financial and compliance reports.

Coordinate the annual budget development and fiscal year‑end closing processes.

Manage general ledger reconciliations, cost transfers, and fund tracking to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Serve as a key resource for financial compliance reviews and internal audits.

Prepare financial materials, dashboards, and reports for executive briefings and advisory groups.

Collaborate with the CFAO, departmental business officers, and unit leaders on financial planning, budget presentations, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.

4–7 years of related experience, preferably in higher education.

Experience with UCR’s Financial System – Oracle Financials, Budget Cloud, and related applications.

Ability to independently gather information, perform financial analysis, and communicate findings clearly in writing and verbally.

Proficiency in spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis and reporting.

Strong interpersonal skills, service orientation, critical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a high‑volume environment.

Knowledge of finance policies, internal control practices, and compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

Recent experience in a university or higher‑education setting.

Advanced knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting systems.

Demonstrated experience performing executive‑level financial analysis and strategic planning.

Compensation Base salary range: $75,900 – $137,300 per year. The incumbent may earn up to $98,000 annually depending on qualifications. Salary offers are based on education, licensure, certifications, experience, and organizational needs.
