Vulnerability Management Specialist
Location: North Chicago / South Milwaukee Area
Employment type: Contract (1+ year)
Compensation: $70 - $75 per hour DOE
Summary We’re looking for a hands‑on Vulnerability Management Engineer to strengthen our cybersecurity posture and safeguard enterprise systems. The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of vulnerability assessment tools, security frameworks, and remediation practices, with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams to minimize risk and protect critical assets.
Responsibilities
Manage and execute vulnerability scanning, analysis, and remediation processes across systems and networks.
Use industry‑leading tools to identify and track vulnerabilities, ensuring timely mitigation and risk reduction.
Partner with IT, Security, and Engineering teams to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities effectively.
Develop reports and dashboards that communicate security risks to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of threat landscapes, zero‑day vulnerabilities, and best practices in cybersecurity.
Support audits, compliance initiatives, and continuous improvement of the vulnerability management lifecycle.
Required Skills
3+ years of proven experience in vulnerability management or related cybersecurity roles.
Proficiency with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Tenable Nessus, Qualys, Rapid7 InsightVM).
Strong understanding of security principles, CVSS scoring, threat modeling, and patch management processes.
Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex issues and recommend effective solutions.
Must be 100% onsite Monday-Friday in North Chicago, IL or Southeast Wisconsin.
Bonus Skills
Familiarity with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) or EDR platforms (CrowdStrike, SentinelOne).
Scripting or automation experience (Python, PowerShell, or Bash).
Knowledge of cloud security tools and environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Relevant certifications such as Security+, CySA+, CEH, or CISSP.
