Paralegal II, General Liability (Hollywood, FL)
Zurich North America's Staff Legal Office is currently hiring a Paralegal II, General Liability to join their team. Under the supervision of an attorney, the successful candidate will support moderate to complex liability litigation cases, including case work, research, discovery responses, subpoenas, and more.
This is a hybrid work position. The selected candidate should be able to report into the Hollywood, FL office on days when in-office attendance is required.
In This Role You Will Be Responsible For
Provide legal support to up to three attorneys
Draft legal pleadings, correspondence, and other documents as directed
Conduct legal and documentary research
Monitor case schedules and filing deadlines
Interview, summarize depositions, review discovery responses and medical records
Prepare discovery requests and responses
Subpoena non-parties and organize records
Schedule surveillance, medical exams, and site inspections
Assist in trial preparation
Respond to inquiries from customers, clients, counsel, and witnesses
Track billable hours
Organize and maintain case files and documents electronically
Contribute to team efforts and participate in projects as needed
Collaborate with attorneys, staff, claims professionals, and leadership to achieve litigation outcomes
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of legal support experience
or Associate Degree with 2+ years of legal support experience
Experience conducting electronic database research
Experience drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certificate
Defense experience
Insurance industry experience
Ability to conduct electronic database research, including Lexis Nexis
Comfortable working in a paperless environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong Microsoft Office and technical skills
Familiarity with litigation management software systems
Trial experience, including preparing exhibits and witnesses
Experience filing in the Florida Courts e‑filing system
Knowledge of Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and local rules
Experience navigating court and clerk websites
Strong organization and prioritization skills
Attention to detail
Collaboration skills across the organization
Experience retrieving and organizing non‑party records and working with records retrieval services
Certified Paralegal (CP), Certified Legal Assistant (CLA), PACE Registered Paralegal (PRP), CORE Registered Paralegal (CRP), or Professional Paralegal (PP)
Compensation The proposed hourly rate range for this position is $28.22 – $39.00, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 5%.
