Job Overview
Our client, a Boston‑based investment manager, has an immediate need for a Business Systems Analyst. This is a six‑month contract requiring three days a week on site (Tuesday‑Thursday).
Job Purpose A Business Systems Sr. Analyst helps develop systems technology projects that address the organization’s business needs. The analyst independently meets with project stakeholders and business partners to elicit and gather requirements, develops formal specifications, and collaborates with internal IT resources to develop, test, and deploy solutions. All work follows the organization’s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to release projects and maintenance items for the benefit of clients and internal partners.
Responsibilities
Analyze business activities to determine requirements and translate complex business needs into functional, actionable user stories and detailed specifications.
Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and the technology organization, ensuring proper implementation of requirements on schedule.
Collaborate on systems scope and objectives based on user needs and industry requirements.
Ensure proper data processing, using data checks and reports to support error‑free business processes.
Aggregate and integrate data from multiple sources to enhance business analytics.
Maintain data accessibility, quality, and integrity standards.
Oversee the implementation of new data products and solutions, creating and maintaining training materials and documentation for stakeholders.
Follow the organization’s SDLC, ensuring all steps are completed prior to code release.
Provide application and production support as needed.
Guide less experienced Business Systems Analysts.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, economics, computer science, or a technology related field.
2–5+ years of experience in the financial services industry, ideally supporting buy‑side technology.
Solid knowledge of Equity, Fixed Income, and Derivatives asset classes.
Proven SQL skills and a strong understanding of investment data.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical skills and independent decision‑making ability.
Understanding of the systems development lifecycle and Agile framework.
Ability to develop creative solutions to meet business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with Charles River, Eagle, and IBOR technologies.
Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms.
