Psychiatrist (Part-Time, Contract) Location: Brooksville Youth Academy – Brooksville, FL Department: Clinical Services Job Type: Part-Time / Contract Compensation: $1,800 per in-person visit plus a $150 travel stipend per visit (annual maximum of $101,450)

About Youth Opportunity & Brooksville Youth Academy Youth Opportunity is a nationally recognized leader in residential and behavioral health treatment for at‑risk youth. Brooksville Youth Academy in Brooksville, Florida, is a secure residential treatment center providing trauma‑informed care for male adolescents, ages 13–19. The academy combines clinical mental‑health and substance‑abuse treatment with structured education, enrichment therapies, recreation, art, music, and life‑skills programming. Youth typically remain in care for six to twelve months, participating in individual, family, and group therapy, restorative justice, and pre‑vocational preparation. Programming is delivered within small group living units to promote personal growth, community reintegration, and long‑term success.

About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our clinical team on a part‑time, contracted basis at Brooksville Youth Academy. The Psychiatrist provides oversight and supervision of psychiatric services, including evaluation, treatment planning, and medication management. This position works collaboratively with the clinical and medical teams to support the emotional and psychological well‑being of the youth in care.

Key Responsibilities

Provide oversight and clinical supervision for psychiatric services.

Conduct clinical diagnostic evaluations, treatment team consultations, and medication management.

Supervise the psychiatric nurse practitioner and provide clinical guidance to the medical team.

Develop and implement psychiatric protocols, including seclusion policies and administration of PRN medication.

Serve as the Designated Mental Health Authority for the facility as required by contract or state/local regulations.

Participate in ongoing in‑service training and professional development.

Maintain a high standard of professionalism and role‑model behavior for youth.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education:

Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from an accredited medical school.

Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program.

Current, unrestricted medical license in the state of Florida (or ability to obtain).

Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry.

Active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.

Experience:

1–2 years of experience in direct‑care delivery of treatment or clinical services; 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.

Experience in residential DJJ programs, offender treatment, group modalities, child welfare, and substance abuse treatment is highly desirable.

Skills:

Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and youth populations in a collaborative environment.

Licensing:

Must hold a current, unrestricted medical license in the state of Florida.

Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry and DEA license required for prescribing controlled substances.

Physical Demands

Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable.

Able to actively engage with youth, participate in physical interventions, and transport youth or staff as needed.

Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state.

Must pass evaluation of physical techniques and certification exams.
