Overview The Observability Lead will be responsible for consolidating an array of monitoring tools and building an enterprise monitoring platform that will span all technical components of our IT landscape and business domains. This role will also oversee the creation of intuitive monitoring dashboards, robust metrics, and actionable insights, working closely with a UX Designer and engineers. The Observability Platform lead will guide all aspects of design, implementation, and evolution of a comprehensive observability strategy, focusing on the operational health of systems and their impact on business and customer outcomes.

Responsibilities
Leads the defining and execution of the strategic plan for the observability platform, ensuring alignment with the overall enterprise strategy
Leads the consolidation of disparate monitoring tools into a single, coherent enterprise observability platform with best-in‑class capabilities for our infrastructure: real‑time monitoring, AI & machine learning, data aggregation and visualization, alerting/notifications, automatic remediation, etc.
Leads the implementation automation to embed monitoring and discovery processes in the production environment seamlessly
Expand the scope of observability beyond traditional IT operations, linking systems monitoring to business outcome metrics
Define and Improve incident management and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) by leveraging operational monitors and historical incident data
Enhance change management processes by providing a holistic view of system connectivity and dependencies
Foster cross‑departmental collaboration to ensure broad understanding and efficient usage of the observability platform
Lead and support the configuration engineers that will drive the adoption of the monitoring platform and enablement of observability into ADUSA
Lead, engage, mentor and inspire a team consisting of observability engineers
Advocate for observability best practices across the organization, educating stakeholders about the value and usage of the platform
Continually assess new technologies and methodologies to improve the observability platform and its impact on
Requirements
Masters Degree in Computer Science or Technical field; Equivalent trainings/certifications/experience equivalency will be considered
11 or more years of equivalent experience in relevant job or field of technology
8 or more years of equivalent experience in an advanced role or technical capacity, leading teams directly or indirectly
8 or more years experience directly responsible for guiding, training or onboarding team members in relevant technologies, capabilities or skills
Proven experience leading and mentoring technical teams
Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of computing and IT technology at all levels and across a broad range of technologies, environments, and practices, including extensive hands‑on experience.
Understanding of observability pillars, such as logging, monitoring, tracing, and metrics
Expertise in leveraging monitoring tools (e.g., Data Dog, CA APM) and platforms (e.g., ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, etc.)
Experience with incident management and RCA
Solid understanding of modern automation technologies and techniques
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneousl
Preferred Qualifications
Post graduate degree or advanced training and or certifications in relevant field/s of study
Experience in Agile teams and Product/Platform based operating model
Experience in retail or grocery preferred
Deep understanding of observability pillars, such as logging, monitoring, tracing, and metrics
Prior experience in building and scaling enterprise‑level observability and monitoring platforms
Experience with business outcome metrics and their linkage to IT operations
Familiarity with modern cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) and container technologies
Expertise in leveraging monitoring tools (e.g., Data Dog, CA APM) and platforms (e.g., ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, etc.
ME/NC/PA/SC Salary Range: $120,960 - $181,440
IL/MA/MD/NY Salary Range: $139,120 - $208,680
